Head of Product Design & Communications
I absolutely enjoyed working closely with the co-founders and data-scientists to develop fundraising and marketing pitch decks. I also collaborated closely with senior developers, data scientist, and PhD domain experts to create a UI/UX design an automated system that digested, segmented, and annotated materials science data. Designed thousands of UI screens and components using FIGMA. Produced marketing communication plans and collateral including presentations, papers, case studies, website, and videos. I was instrumental in both designing the requirements and interface for the AI platform alongside depicting the value story that secured over $11M in funding through the pandemic. Originally I was aiding incubate the early stages of this startup as a consultant prior to 2020 before joining the team full time in 2021.

Owner & Product Designer
Like many who were sequestered to their homes in the pandemic, I flocked back to my childhood hobby of Tabletop Wargaming, now a booming industry and pastime. Seeing a gap in the market for high quality and simple game aids, I started Objective Control which grew over the years to over 5000 sales in 20+ countries and was promising to gross ~$25k/week revenue by the second product launch, however the waves in the sea of business are unpredictable, as was my business partner who became so increasingly unreliable that for the sake of my family's financial risk I had to shut down operations just shy of the second expansion and communicate to all customers that the products would no longer be available. It was a sad occurrence that many in business can attest to, but the endeavor taught me a great deal about global tax laws, scaling audiences over social media, and what it takes to make something that dominates a category of products within the retail sector.

IT Management Consultant & Creative Director
I launched C3 (Creative Corner Consulting LLC for those that want the full tongue twister) in 2015 as an executive consultant building an IT business operations team alongside the standing director for a $20B national insurer as we implemented a $100M digital transformation initiative laid out by Gartner. This first opportunity to expand my expertise and put into practice what most pay an MBA for laid the groundwork to build up an agency focused on communicating for operational excellence. I employed over 10 creatives during the years billing work to clients like BlueCross BlueShield, AstraZeneca, California Strawberry Commission, Corning, Kodak, along with countless small businesses and medium-sized pharmaceuticals. I was able to grow my agency to a modest $350k/yr in revenue as I secured a Master Service Agreement with Takeda to communicate data and technology strategies in March of 2020, right as the COVID-19 pandemic swept the planet. Operations slowed to a crawl and I was forced to reduce consulting work to a minimum and took an offer as Head of Design & Communications for an AI startup incubating out of Georgia Tech.

Data & Analytics Storyteller
It was a great pleasure to reprise my role as a creative communicator at Excellus, this time as a consultant, to help the Analytics & Data team demonstrate value. Working with the Chief Data & Analytics Officer and her team of specialists, we built out the capabilities and storytelling required to gain favor and funding from the board to build a roadmap laying the foundation for deeper financial and memeber data analysis. Cindy Langston propelled herself to the position of CIO under this strategy and now leads the regional insurance race through digital transformation. Through two years of effort, I helped the organization prepare and deliver:
- Dashboard Interface Enhancements
- A Communications Hub
- Board Report - Funding Roadmap
- Team Building & Communication Best Practices
- Data Strategy Roadshow
- Improved DEI Initiatives

Product & Advertising Creatives
All though 2018 was a very strong year with a diverse set of client projects ranging from Corning to AstraZeneca to initiating my contract with the FDIC. One of my favorite projects was leading a small creative team to support the product manager and his marketing team as they strove to build a global brand for the BEST sponge in the world.
Through our partnership we designed packaging for multiple products, developed mobile/web ads for all standard sizes/browsers, assisted in product placement, and spearheaded the character creation that led to a beautiful 3D animation and lovable mascot.

IT Executive Consultant & Digital Transformer
This was the year I broke out as a maverick without the coveted three letter MBA title. The prior two Gartner-guided transformations at the Blues, alongside the solo work at Ameriprise, gave me the credentials to effect change on a massive scale. I found great success flying across the country building relationships with executives at Cleveland Clinic, Delta Dental, Astra Zeneca, Excellus and even my home city's Rochester Central School District building critical communication artifacts to manage programs and change population health behaviors. One of the most pivitol moments in the year was helping an incoming CIO onboard to the Underwriter Laboratories firm as he set the path for digital transformation.

Graciously Giving Back
Through some connections that I still count as blessings to this day, I was able to get heavily involved in the fundraising aspect of the Las Vegas City Impact Center which runs many wonderful programs that range in support from children to seniors. For several years I stayed involved with the program manager to help maximize fundraising by putting on extremely highly produced events.

Operational Excellence Aficionado
Trust is earned, not given freely. This year's achievmnets illustrated that I had elevate my understanding of operational excellence to that of expert. I was contracted as the sole IT consultant to manage the CIO onboarding for Amerirprise Financial and helped that executive build and communicate a program for change that aligned the IT portfolio of capabilities to the modernized needs of the enterprise. We achieved this through organizational design in which I led several offsite workshops with IT leaders to facilitate the reshaping of the IT organization.

Creative Californian Collaborator
Enriched with experience, and emboldened by partnerships at ExplainerPieces.com, I embarked on a long-lasting relationship with the California Strawberry Commission. I flew out to California and took part in the training of the field workers and got hands on experience for what it takes to carefully bring strawberries to everyone's table. From there I helped the organization improve their communications and training for several years as they grew operations.

Building IT Business Operations
BCBSM is where I licked my first chops as a solo artist. After demonstrating success after success as a Special Project Manager to the CIO at Excellus, I was offered the opportunity to implement change on an even grander scale in Detroit, Michigan. It was the opportunity of a lifetime, my wife and I uprooted, became Michiganders, and learned where to point on our open palm where we moved to. Serving the CIO at BCBSM tested my knowledge of change management as I was elevated to the position of co-ownership of one of the project charters set out by Gartner's Risk Assessment of IT operations. It was my task to help build out the function of IT Business Operations with a strong emphasis on empathetic, rapid, and responsive communications. I worked extremely closely with the CTO and Enterprise Architects to build and communicate governance models and application rationalizations that identified millions in saved licenses. This rapid elevation of technology landed me on a project to improve the analytical dashboard for the Office fo the CEO. The time spent engaging with every professional at BCBSM laid the foundation to understand enterprise operations, the key to measuring success, and the meaningfulness of building real relationships.

Special Projects & Special Talents
Fitting in as a creative amongst corporate elites was a challenge. I was scouted by the incoming CIO for my talents as a communications specialist and was immediately thrust to a position of leadership. With a recently minted diploma and a lot to prove I pushed for more and more opportunities. As Gartner was brought in to build out their assessment, I was tapped to translate their work into meaningful artifacts that could manage the programs for change. We secured $42M in additional funding through the story we told and then went on to make change a comfortable reality. We did this with great participation from HR and expanded talent programs. During my short tenure at Excellus, I became the defacto presentation expert for the enterprise helping VPs and C-Suite Executives embolden their communications and promote programs of excellence. Above all other collaborations, my most admired is the enterprise-wide initiative to rebrand the internal culture and elevate their standings in the Great Place to Work rankings. I was tapped as the creative facilitator to capture ideas and broadcast them with quality across the organization and its affiliates. This culture change initiative was widely adopted and stays strongly in place over a decade later.

Creative Director - Rodeo Partners
I was given a lucky chance out of college, thanks to my portfolio of work containing Xerox and Kodak from my apprenticeship days, and was hired by an executive consultant and presentation expert looking to scale his agency. Through my time at the firm, we grew to add on a second software/web developer and another designer. I rose to the rank of director and managed the quality of all creative work amongst the team while Scott, the owner, continued to capture incredible business like the PPT development for internal roll out campaign of Microsoft Windows 8. My final impactful project managed a large campaign event launch for Shinogi Pharmaceuticals that pushed the boundaries of my presentation skills that eventually got me scouted for my next position, forever imprinting the talents required to prove myself as a business leader, powerful communicator, analytical powerhouse, and technology architecture evangelist.
